La saison d’ élégance
Bonjour! There is elegance in the glamour of a French soirée. There is grace and beauty in the glitter of the evening Eiffel Tower as turquoise, green, gold, and blue light reflects off the Champ–de–Mars and the River Seine. This year, Holiday Traditions will transport you into a grand world of international splendor and magnificence as we present “La saison d’ élégance,” — Season of Elegance.

Passing first through the exquisite Foyer of the Filoli Mansion, you will enter a grand French Dining Room, une salle à manger. Here you will find a sitting area and our magnificent holiday tree reaching seventeen feet to the ceiling decorated with sparkling gold, silver and platinum ornaments, gilded bird cages, plush birds, and luxurious ribbons adorning the branches. The elegant grand Ballroom becomes Le Grand Salon, beautifully furnished and richly decorated in silver, salmon, champagne, and green. In the formal Dining Room, an Open French Market with carts, street lights, park benches, and lit trees will charm everyone as they stroll through. Whether it be a French Pâtisserie, a Men’s Club Salon, a French Garden or Children’s Room interpretation of The Polar Express, every room will delight your senses as you explore every corner of this home. Holiday music and entertaining groups enhance the mood and spirit as guests feel the spirit and joy of “La saison.”

Thirty–one years ago the Roth Family opened their home to family and friends for the holiday season. The House filled with evergreens, candles, fir trees, and leis from Hawaii welcomed visitors. Wreaths placed in every window were made from holly and evergreens grown at Filoli. A cherished tradition continues today as we welcome you to this glorious House.

The nine day Event begins with a grand Opening soirée on Friday evening, November 28. Live music, French hors d’oeuvres and champagne take you far away to an evening with continental flair. As we embrace holiday elegance, we will continue the added Saturday Shopping Boutique, expanded buffet luncheons throughout the week, two evening Bistros in the Café and a third seating of the very popular Children’s Party on Saturday, December 6.

Eat well, laugh often, celebrate abundantly — the way the French do!
Join us for a perfect beginning to the Holiday Season that supports the preservation and stewardship of this most special place, Filoli.
