Exclusive Member Events

Once again Filoli will offer events designed exclusively to thank Filoli members for their vital membership support. Your membership makes you eligible to attend ONE Member Benefit Event each year, space permitting. Your membership level determines how many places you are allowed to reserve for the one event you choose to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Bourn enjoy the Garden.

Twilight Stroll

Tuesday, June 13, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm (Reservations begin Tuesday, April 25)

If you have never attended a Twilight Stroll, this will be a wonderful opportunity to see what you have been missing as we continue Filoli’s Centennial, celebrating the Year of the Garden.

As Filoli’s 2017 centennial celebration focuses on the Garden, we encourage you to explore the gardens, beautiful in June’s twilight. In the High Place, you will see the plaque inscribed “Festina Lente.” This plaque provided the theme for this year’s Stroll: “Festina Lente”— Make Haste Slowly—100 Years in the Life of a Garden. The Summer Sculpture installations, keyed to Filoli’s own garden art, and aptly titled “Filoli Inspirations,” make distinctive counterpoints to the lovely botanical displays. Explore the Greenhouses this evening, a very unusual treat, and find out how the hundreds and hundreds of young plants are nurtured to fill beds and containers.

Before touring the gardens, please explore the house, and especially the seldom–open Grand Staircase. The upstairs hallway displays a very special photography exhibit showcasing the garden over the last 100 years. The Conservation Laboratory, classrooms and library will be open as well. Head Curator Julie Bly DeVere will be on hand and delighted to answer your questions.

Enjoy appetizers and drinks on the Dining Room Terrace and Tennis Court, and live music on the tennis court, where The Fabulous JewelTones will sing.

This wonderful member event fills up quickly, so please make your reservation beginning, Tuesday, April 25.

No charge; open to Filoli Members only by advance registration. New this year: members can purchase a single $25 guest ticket, limited quantity available.

  • Sold Out
If you have already reserved your place and would like to purchase an additional guest ticket for $25, please call the ticketing office at (650) 364-8300 ext 508.

Library Chats— Informal Talks for Filoli Members

Come upstairs into the once private quarters of the Bourns and Roths and take an armchair journey of exploration with the Library Chats. Topics as varied as architecture, landscape design, fine arts, gardening, native life, historic families, and culture are presented periodically in the Sterling Library, Filoli’s reference library. Take advantage of your membership and join us for a Chat.

Please note: Unless otherwise indicated, these talks take place in the Sterling Library on the second floor of the historic House. Access to this library is by stairs only. For questions about accessibility, please contact Filoli’s Head Curator and Collection Manager, Julie Bly DeVere at (650) 364–8300, extension 205 or collectionmanager@filoli.org.

Current members may reserve seats according to their membership level:
1 space per Chat for Individual members;
2 spaces for Household and Premier members; Dual, and Family members
3 spaces for Filoli Circle Level members.
A note about the Friends and Sterling Libraries:
Filoli’s circulating and reference libraries are a membership benefit at no extra cost that provides continuing education and practical guides through books, videos, and talks.
