Autumn at Filoli FestivalFiloli’s strolling pumpkin makes friends with aMcCaw from the “Happy Birds Performing Parrot Show.” Saturday, September 29, 2012, 10:00 am – 3:30 pmMake your reservations beginning Monday, August 20 at 9:00 am Join us on Saturday, September 29 for our annual family–friendly harvest celebration, the Autumn at Filoli Festival. During this special seasonal event, a favorite of many, discover and savor one–of–a–kind apples, pears and grapes from Filoli’s Gentlemen’s Orchard. Fruit tasting in the Visitor and Education Center will be available all day. We believe that you will love tasting and comparing all the different varieties. You will also have the opportunity to tour the Historic Gentlemen’s Orchard with more than 670 trees and vines of heirloom fruit. The Filoli Garden Shop will be open throughout the day and special guest vendors will be nearby with their artisan creations and edibles including honey, condiments and special herb blends from Filoli. Filoli’s Nature Education Docents will be on hand to lead hikes through the natural area of the property and share their knowledge of the flora and fauna at Filoli. Garden Information Docents will be present to share their knowledge and answer your questions about gardening at home as well as at Filoli. Grandmother and Grandaughter enjoyed live music and BBQ lunches under the oak trees. Acitivies for Children and FamiliesNumerous activities are planned with children and families in mind. We will have a “pumpkin patch” where children can choose and decorate a pumpkin to take home. Young guests can have their faces painted as well as help our volunteers operate the cider press. Our “Strolling Pumpkin” will be around to greet them with treats. There will also be some wonderful family photo opportunities. A Day Filled With EntertainmentThe ever–popular Happy Birds Performing Parrot Show will return once again for three performances and Nick Barone will present two Autumn–themed puppet shows in the Ballroom of the historic House. Ravioli the Clown will perform his captivating magic show and will stroll the grounds with Snazzy the Clown providing fun and balloons everywhere they go. Sterling the BubbLesmith will be delighting you in the North Field with his amazing bubble creations! Look out for hand–crafted scarecrows designed and created by Friends of Filoli volunteers in all shapes and sizes throughout the property. Live Music, BBQ Lunches and Café RefreshmentsLive music by the “Amigos” will be played on Filoli’s Tennis Court where a barbecue lunch can be purchased by advance order. You may also purchase a special children’s lunch in advance. Entrée choices include a vegetarian option for both the adult and children’s lunches. Filoli’s Café will be open and serving a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts for spur–of–the–moment dining. Light refreshments will also be available on the Pathway.
