Special Event Filoli's strolling pumpkin makes friends with aMcCaw from the “Happy Birds” exotic bird show. ![]() Saturday, October 3, 2009, 10:00 am - 3:30 pmJoin us Saturday, October 3 for our annual family-friendly Autumn at Filoli Festival. During this special seasonal event—a favorite of many—discover and savor one-of-a-kind pears, apples and grapes from Filoli’s heirloom orchards. The Filoli Garden Shop will be open throughout the day and special guest vendors will be nearby with their unique artisanal edibles including honey, condiments, candies and pastries. Filoli volunteers will host floral design demonstrations at various times during the day. Guided orchard tours will be conducted as well. Filoli’s Nature Education Docents will be on hand to share information about the many nature education programs that Filoli offers. Garden Information Docents will be present to share insights about the many intriguing aspects of caring for Filoli’s world-renowned gardens. You won't want to miss this year's Autumn at Filoli Festival!

Live music and boxed lunches under the oak trees. Family Fun LandA variety of activities is planned with children and families in mind. This year we’ve expanded “Family Fun Land,” an area where supervised children’s outdoor games and activities will take place. Young guests also will have the chance to make Halloween crafts and have their faces painted. A Day Filled With EntertainmentThe ever-popular Happy Birds will return this year for three performances. Randall Metz and his Puppet Company also will be present, entertaining both children and their parents. Ravioli the Clown will perform his captivating magic show. Look for hand-crafted scarecrows, designed by Friends of Filoli volunteers, in all shapes and sizes throughout the property. Boxed Lunches and Café RefreshmentsA barbeque lunch will be served on Filoli’s Tennis Court. (Advance purchase required.) A vegetarian option is available. Lunch prices are $16 per person; a child-sized lunch is available for $9. The child-sized lunch includes a wrap, carrots with ranch dressing, grapes and a cookie. The Café at Filoli will also be open, serving a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and sweets for spur-of-the-moment dining. |
