Filoli Flower Show“Hats Off To Mother Nature” “Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn, hundreds of bees in the clover, hundreds of butterflies on the lawn, but only one Mother the whole world over.” —George Cooper Filoli dining room alive with harp and flowers. Photo by Barbara Braun. We are all abuzz at Filoli over this year’s Flower Show entitled “Hats Off To Mother Nature.” As preparations for the event are well underway and the Garden is bursting with blooms, now is the time to mark your calendars for May 5 – 8 in order not to miss this special Mother’s Day weekend celebration. Scroll down this page to see the many offerings and be sure to get your tickets early as this show is a sell-out every year. We will have more than 75 floral exhibits and garden vignettes in the House and Garden including nine beautiful table settings from talented Bay Area Floral designers. This year we are fortunate to have thirteen new designers, several of whom also exhibit annually at Bouquets To Art at the de Young Museum. On the South Terrace, there will be scheduled Flower Chats offering flower–arranging tips and Garden Chats regarding the important roles that bees, butterflies and birds play in nature. Visitors will also enjoy the children’s, the miniature’s, the bonsai and the horticulture exhibits (that include irises, roses, camellias, rhododendrons and others). Be prepared to stroll the Garden which is always a spectacle at Filoli. In the Garden, you will find surprise elements that are not normally present as a further tribute to Mother Nature. Along the path near the potting sheds, be sure to check out our live BEE exhibit, attend a talk by Richard Baxter, President of the San Mateo County Bee Guild, and view the numerous handiworks of the bees themselves, another marvel of nature. So plan now if you wish to attend the Thursday evening Preview Cocktail Party that celebrates our Patrons, Designers and all of our volunteers, one of our famous Teas on Friday or Saturday or one of Filoli’s elegant Mother’s Day Champagne Brunches on Sunday. Additionally, your visit may include a pre–ordered Boxed Lunch or a visit to our Café which will also be open daily until 3:30 pm. See you in May and be sure to don your favorite hat! During the Flower Show there is no room for strollers in the Garden Shop or at the Teas or Brunches in the Visitor and Education Center. Advance ticket purchase is recommended. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. On Sunday, Cañada Road is closed from Highway 92 to Filoli's entrance. If you are coming to Filoli from the north, please follow these directions.
